THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN PROVIDED GRANT ASSISTANCE TO 4 GRASS-ROOTS PROJECTS


PRESS RELEASE
On March 14, 2013, the Government of Japan held a signing ceremony for Grant Contracts with four national NGOs at the Embassy of Japan. The Government of Japan provided over US$460,000 dollars in total for the following 4 project to meet basic Grant Assistance for Grass –Roots Human Security Projects (GGP).

1.       The project for Construction of Irrigation Chanel in Casse Village, Ainaro sub-district, Ainaro District/ Joventude Esperanca ba Futuru (JEF)/US$ 122,951
2.       The Project for construction of irrigation Channel in Meligo Village, Cailaco Sub-District, Bobonaro District/ Organization Haburas Moris/ US$ 122,534.
3.       The Project of installation of water supply System in Dato-Foho Village, Liquica sub-District, Liquica District / Aplimentec Foundation / US$ 115,395
4.       The Project for the installation of water Supply System in Batara Sub-district, Manatuto District/National Technical Development Union Center (CUNDTL)/US$ 108,528

 By Implementing GGP, the Government of Japan aims at assisting NGOs and Local Public outorities in meeting various development needs in a prompt and flexible manner. Since 2007, more than 30 project have been implemented in all 13 districts of Timor Leste, Providing water supply system, irrigation chanel, constructing and rehabilitating school buildings and other important infrastructures for the local communities.
In the Signing ceremony, the Grant Constract was signed between H.E. Mr. Yoshitaka Hanada, Ambassador of Japan to Timor Leste and representatives of the 4 recipient NGOs.
